BACCARA is a 50' Hinckley Sou'wester Yawl built in 1977 to the highest standards. This broker helped her current owners purchase her in Seattle in December 2009. After a season cruising in the Pacific Northwest, she was trucked to New England where she has sailed seasonally ever since while wintering in heated inside storage. BACCARA's condition in all aspects belies her age due to the high quality of her original construction and the exceptional care she has enjoyed since she was new, in particular with these owners. Her topsides were stripped, faired, and Awlgripped by Hodgdon Yachts in 2014. Between 2019 to 2021, all the hardware on the waterways, trunk cabin, and cockpit was removed for Awlgrip and then re-bedded.
She will be launched shortly and ready for the most ambitious cruising program, be it in coastal or trans-oceanic. This broker also has considerable experience sailing a sistership on numerous offshore passages. Hinckley Sou'wester 50s are known for their seaworthiness and seakindliness. And yet with her shoal draft with solid bronze centerboard adjusted with bronze worm gears rather than the typical pendant and ICW rig she can transit the ditch when going south. BACCARA's yawl rig is easily handled singlehanded or by a cruising couple and her bulletproof, naturally aspirated mechanical Ford Lehman diesel will power her reliably for 1,400NM.
BACCARA has the desirable B General Arrangement with three cabins and two heads. Her owner's stateroom features a double berth and ensuite head. There is ample storage for liveaboards. Her L-shaped navigation station with a swivel chair can also serve as the ship's office. She offers unusually good natural ventilation through several Dorade vents and opening hatches supplemented by reverse cycle air-conditioning powered by her 8 kW genset. Her cockpit can accommodate a gang of friends comfortably and her cockpit lockers will swallow her sail inventory and all the gear needed for extended cruising without encroaching on the accommodations.
