"Philanderer", built by Concorde yachts in 1992, is the second build in a series of three yachts known as the "Mirabella" 40m series. Designed by Bruce Farr and originally built for Joe Vittoria, former chairman of Avis, "Mirabella" I and III were delivered to the Vittoria family for a charter operation while "Philanderer" (ex: Mirabella II) was purchased during her construction and delivered to a private owner.
Farr Design Mega Sailing Yacht
At the time the "Mirabella" series was built they were the largest sailing sloops ever built and represented a new milestone in large sail. Farr Design, world renowned for grand prix racing yachts, took an offshore performance design and incorporated cruising/charter amenities at a new level. These yachts had simple rigs and deck geometry and could be handled by a relatively small crew.
Main Saloon
"Philanderer's" expansive interior volume allows for 5 staterooms with sleeping accomodations for 10 guests. There are 2 identical VIP staterooms, 2 twin staterooms and an over/under pullman arrangement in a 5th guest cabin, all with en suites. The cabins are convertible which allows for single or double berths to accommodate guest sleeping arrangements. "Philanderer" can also carry 6 crew in 3 addditional cabins.
Double Cabin
The deck saloon design is setup with an upper and lower saloon arrangement with formal dining. Other amenities include a full gym, large sauna and private office. Lounge space is abundent on deck and the aft deck area, protected by bimini top, can host a large group for al fresco dining. An enormous transom garage houses the tender and watersports toys.
On Deck Dining
"Philanderer" has been through 2 extensive refits. In 2009 the interior had a major overhaul at the direction of Derek Frost and Associates. The cockpit layout was also updated and the teak decking replaced. All new electronics and communication equipment was installed as well as an extensive entertainment system. The carbon mast and rigging was completely serviced and re-painted and a new tender was added along with updates to the water toys. In 2012 she saw a technical refit with new batteries, rebuilt generator, new seacocks, updated piping, new electrical panels, a new Spectra tri-radial spinnaker; and increased safety gear and alarm system to meet commercial regulations for worldwide cruising.
Wheel House
"Philanderer" was an inovative design in 1992 and has stood the test of time. You would be hard pressed to find a yacht of this size and sophistication anywhere close to this price range. Anyone looking for a yacht of this magnitude should have "Philanderer" on their short list. She is located in Spain and available for inspection.
